About 100,000 sq. miles, or one-third of the nation, are underwater, in keeping with Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s local weather minister. Flood injury is estimated at $10 billion, or 4% of the nation’s gross home product, stated planning minister Ahsan Iqbal.

“Pakistan has by no means seen an unbroken cycle of monsoons like this,” stated Rehman on Twitter. “Eight weeks of continuous torrents have left big swathes of the nation underneath water.” Local weather change is blamed as the reason for the heavy rain. Current monsoons have began earlier and have been heavier than normal. Comparable floods killed practically 2,000 individuals in 2010.
